it’s been a big month for little bear. he’s been working on standing on his own for a while, and can do it for pretty much as long as he wants now. he’s still doing a lot of cruising, though most of it is running at this point. he started taking his first real steps this month, too. and though this technically belongs in next month’s post, i’m late as usual on this one, so… little bear actually started walking on 7/6! he still cruises and crawls a lot, but walks across the room from the couch to his toys sometimes. he tries to run after the dog, but pretty much falls down if he goes too fast.

he’s also invented some games he likes to play with us. he loves the raspberry game, which consists of him blowing raspberries on us/the furniture/his toys/by himself and laughing with us. his new favorite is the “rawr” game, where he goes, “rawr!” and one of us rawrs back (usually daddy, because he’s more growly than i am), and it goes back and forth until someone gets tired of it. he’s really starting to interact with us, and it’s so exciting to see. he’s really a lot of fun these days.

in other interaction news, he shakes his head all the time to tell us what he doesn’t want. and he’s getting better at following instructions. he seems to understand what i say a lot of the time, but really only obeys about half the time. (depending on how interested he is in whatever he’s going after.) he’ll give us kisses when we ask for them – or shake his head “no” if he’s not feeling affectionate at the time. he also did the sign for “milk” a couple of times, but still prefers to fuss instead of sign for it. he had his first haircut this month, too, on 6/9. and he needed it! his hair was nice, but it was getting in his eyes. it grows fast, and he’ll need another one before long…

so that’s what he’s been up to lately. hard to believe he’ll be a year old in couple months…

(greece, i’m looking at you.) also, i refuse to root for brazil on principle. they’re going to win most – if not all – of their matches, but i don’t like hype. apparently portugal’s got the new ronaldo (except for actual scoring), so i changed my picks. not sure what to make of brazil this time, since the coach apparently chose function over form.

Still, the vagaries of evolution and geography have prevented us from enjoying an epic bear vs. kangaroo battle to the death, so perhaps we should be thankful if our bear-plugger goes crazy and start mauling half the restaurant.

wow, this is weird. i kept seeing the dancer spin clockwise, and it said if you focus, you can see it go the way opposite of what you first perceived. it took a pretty long time for me to see it go the other way, but it weirded me out when it did. now i’m all dizzy…

silly recent conversations, because i know everyone’s dying to know what i talk about all day:

i’m watching ed, edd, and eddy and they’re playing truth or dare. and i thought that would make a fun meme. i’m too woozy to actually try to do anything about it right now, but – if i don’t lose interest right away – i’ll come up with some rules later. muhahahaha…

i didn’t get a chance to post pictures or talk about the cd yesterday, because i came home from work a bit after noon and slept. and slept. i’ve got something i can’t shake, but after lots of rest, i feel a bit better.

i love the cd! the drawrings on it were nice, too. i can’t not dance to that music! so far, i’ve been dancing to the cd of music we practice to, and i like it, but it’s nice to change things up a bit. also, my arm movements need work, and i found it a lot easier to practice to some of the songs you included on the cd, empress. i don’t know if i was in some kind of rut, but it’s totally helpful. i’ll be sending you a cd of the music we use as soon as i can find some other songs to add, as it’s on the short side.

i got my belly dance care package before i went to bed last night. to empress and scheherezhade: thank you!!! the squealing started when i got the package to begin with, and then raised to a fevered pitch – complete with hopping – when i saw the zills. (sohei can attest to this.) the material is beautiful, and i haven’t had a chance to listen to the cd yet, but am looking forward to it. and mini-eggs are always appreciated. there was much squeaking, squealing, and leaping about, to be sure.

it made an otherwise ick day very nice. thankyouthankyouthankyou!

i was going through some old stuff, trying to find some cute stuff to stick on my desk at work, when i came across the following:

ultimately, it was a silly conversation, but it just goes to show that i was always pretty much this way. sorry.

i went to the front line assembly concert last night, even though i had to get up at 7 this morning to go to work. (yesterday and today, i had to work part of my supervisor’s shift.) but it was totally worth it. dj? acucrack and stromkern opened, and i danced like mad to the former, even though everyone else was just standing around looking cool or whatever. i mean, why the hell would you go to an fla concert to just stand there? anyway, both were really good. and fla was awesome. i’m not a great concert reporter or anything, so i’m not going to write out a playlist or try to critique the sound. (okay, the sound was a bit treble-heavy, but i think it was the venue.)

oh and this really nice (cute) girl was there with her brother and she kept giving us cigarettes, and danced with sohei and i. sohei got her brother’s email addy, and he does really awesome remixes, so we might collaborate with him or something for jsff. and they’re going to be at the ministry concert in july, so maybe we’ll meet up again there.

anyway, i’m dehydrated and starving, so i have to walk to the gas station and try to find sustenance. i’m not supposed to go on break when there are students here, but i’ve been here an hour and they won’t leave, so whatevs.

i keep forgetting to mention, i got guild wars: factions this past weekend, so if anyone plays that, let me know and maybe we can meet up in-game. i also keep forgetting to get my animal crossing friend code, but when i do, i’ll be sure to post it.

omg, i want this soooo bad. hey, it’s only a couple days’ pay.
